WQBR (99.9/92.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Country /Americana music format. Licensed to Avis, Pennsylvania, USA, the station serves the Williamsport/Lock Haven/State College area, covering substantial areas of Clinton, Lycoming and Centre Counties in Central Pennsylvania. In fact, before State College Arbitron ratings became unavailable, the Bear was the only station that showed in both books! (understand that the area between Williamsport and State College is the defining line between the influence of Pittsburgh to the west, and Philadelphia to the east, no station had ever bridged those markets). WQBR is currently owned by Maximum Impact Communications, Inc. and features news programing from AP Radio, some satellite music programming from the Hot Country channel from Dial-Global Radio Network, and over 26 hours a week of local Americana music programming.[2][3]
The station went on the air as WHUM on 1990-10-19. on 1993-01-06, the station changed its call sign to WDKK, on 1993-10-26 to the current WQBR,[4]
